une vie plus ordinaire
The pictures from the series „une vie plus ordinaire“ stem from my preoccupation with French cinema: the description of day-to-day situations and daily routines that stand at the centre of many new films from France. Originally, this view of the day-to-day was charachteristic of documentary photography. However, it is precisely the cinematic experience of a time in which nothing happens that is presented in my photos.
It’s not so much a question of making „stills“, but rather of a distillation. In this way, it is the emotional world of the charachters (which reveals itself through the detailed observation of the viewer, rather than through words) which is brought to the fore. This stressing of the visual, the gestural and the unspoken is essential for my photographs.
The large over-life-size format of the photos acts as a projection screen on the day-to-day. The method of hanging refers to cinematic projection and consequently integrates the cinematic quality of a kind of elevatedness, and the creation of overpersonal charachters and situations.

Die Bilder der Serie „une vie plus ordinaire“ beruhen auf meiner Beschäftigung mit dem französischen Kino: Häufig steht die Schilderung von Alltagssituationen, von tagtäglichen Begebenheiten im Zentrum der neueren Filme aus Frankreich. Ursprünglich ist dieser Blick für das Alltägliche für dokumentarische Fotografie charakteristisch. Gerade jedoch die cinematografische Erfahrung einer Darstellung der Zeit, in der nichts geschieht, findet Eingang in meine Fotos.
Es handelt sich bei den Fotos weniger um „Stills“, vielmehr um Konzentrate. Dabei steht die emotionale Welt der Figuren, die sich eher durch die genaue, detaillierte Beobachtung erschließt, als daß sie in Worten ausgedrückt wird im Vordergrund. Diese Betonung des Visuellen, der Geste und des Unausgesprochenen ist für meine Fotografien sehr wichtig.
In der Präsentation bieten die überlebensgroßen Abzüge Projektionsflächen ins Alltägliche.
Die Hängung knüpft an Kinoprojektion an und integriert dabei die cinematografischen Aspekte der Überhöhung, und des Schaffens von überpersönlichen Charakteren und Situationen.
